Earth Caring Art

About Me

010909121300jpeg

Welcome to EarthCaringArt.com!!! I want to tell you a little about myself, and what I’m doing.  I hope that this brings inspiration to artists and people out there in the world.

My name is Evelin Gonzalez. Was born in San Juan Del Rio, Queretaro, Mexico, but raised in Los Angeles since i was seven months old. I am an artist. My main focus as an artist  is to re-use things instead of being a consumer. It has helped me in my journey of becoming an artist. Brings out creativity and curiosity in working with things. To me it is not necessary to have a bran new canvas to make a painting. The point of art is to be able and create, and find ways to make something beautiful. Like they say “one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure”. We need to reuse what has already been given to us instead of mass producing things.

I am also a part of an art group called L.A. Street Productions.  The art group started out with a couple graffiti artists, and now is a diverse community of artist, from graffiti, to multimedia, digital art, photography, hand made recycled crafts, such as envelopes and cards, collage, paintings, animation, poetry, spoken word and many more art forms. As an art collective, we are there to encourage each other, and support each other as artists.

Within the same art collective, some of us, have joined a book collective called, Los Angeles InnerChange Book Collective (L.A.I.C.B.C.).  My dear friend John Watson, has a heart for people and has put together a group with  people that are dear and close to him.  Teaching us how to recycle books by reselling them, or using them for art.  As a group, we seek growth in learning, and sharing these skills with other people.

Los Angeles is very cultural, but at the same time, the arts are fading away.  I have a passion to bring the arts to the Latino community.  Specially to children.  Creating things is just a part of us as human beings.  It’s something that has happened from the beginning, and continues on.  We need to keep the future generations in touch with the arts and creating things, and specially find  ways that we can teach our future generations how to recycle, reuse, and reduce.  To live simple, happy, and care more for the earth.
